Oliver gave the Mets what they needed, even though I wouldn't call his outing a good one. At some point this dude will need to string together a few seven inning, 1 to 2 run performances in order to prove that he's a winner. Being dominant between home runs and extra base hits is not good enough. Enough with the Oliver rant.

Thank heavens for Delgado. He really hammered the Cards last night. Beltran and Wright got it started though. All of a sudden it was like, "We can hit these guys!" Yes they can, and should for the rest of this series.

The pitching is what it is. We've gotten good stuff from the pen two nights in a row. Now lets make it three and lets keep hitting.

Well, Perez wasn't exactly stellar but our Carloses sure made up for it. Looks like Game 6 back at Shea baby! Just gotta win one tonight so that will be the clincher, remove all discussion about Trax for game 7. And with the rainout maybe we can get Glavine on full rest.

Carlos Delgado has been waiting his whole career for this moment, boy is he stepping up.

Great jobs Mets! Our honeymoon flight was cancelled (earthquakes in Hawaii closes airports, who would have known!), so at least I get a few more games on the TV! Let's go Mets!

What'd I say!! Perez has got the right stuff and the right attitude baby, he's gonna be around for a long long time! Floyd might be starting game 5, he said he was feleing healthy enough to play so I'm sure they're considering it. I don't know whether or not I'd want him to start, it's so great having Chavez defensively but another bat is always appreciated. I can't see Willie yankin Valentin just yet. If he replaced everyone who was slumping a little bit offensively in the NLCS we'd have a very different looking team, and he's been a solid defensive 2nd baseman so far, I have no complaints. I was talkin to Rob last night in the chat about game 5 and I decided ot just check the weather to see if maybe we could get lucky... and check this out... heavy rain through the afternoon and into the evening in St. Louis. How amazing would an extra day of rest for Glavine, Floyd, and the pen be eh? The baseball gods might be smiling on the Mets today boys.

Boy Perez sure came through tonight. Not a great outing,
but he gave the bullpen a much needed break and I'm
grateful. I'm really happy about tonight, but I'm always
nervous/excited about the next game.

Lets go Mets!

Game 4 just ended. The Mets tied the series at 2 games each. Oliver Perez wins in Steve Trachsel-like fashion. I think he pitched well in the situation and I have a good feeling about Perez's future with the Mets. He gave up 5 runs, but the ball seemed to be carrying well and he didn't squander a big lead by walking guys.

ok so by the looks of it at the top of the 6th I say Perez starts game 7 (if necessary) and we have Traschel come out of the Pen... also for the WS I wouldn't go with Floyd on the team.. Yeah he could DH but so could Delgado with a much better defensive replacement of Franco... I say we need to bring in Dave Williams just incase Traschel goes and tosses batting practise again... I was wondering why Willie hasn't used Anderson Hernandez at 2B yet.. the whole reason for playing Valentin there is for his bat.. so far he's hit .190 int he post season... so I say put Hernandez in for the defense

I'd give Ron a shot at this point if he thinks he can get something done ;)

Seriously though, we can get back to even with these guys. The Cards are starting Anthony Reyes who didn't even get out of the first inning in his last start of the regular season. Unfortunately, its weakness vs. weakness since Perez has been awful pitching on the road.

As far as I'm concerned its all hands on deck tonight. I think that the Mets can score some runs off this guy early. But it won't mean a thing if the Cards clock Perez. That means Willie should have the meat hook in hand to pull our starter out of the game. Tonight is for the whole pile of beans as far as I'm concerned.

That means Feliciano, Bradford, Hernandez, Mota, Heilman, Wagner and even Trachsel should be ready to throw at anytime. It sounds crazy but if we go down 3-1 I can't see a way out only because of the starting pitching situation.

Tonight's also the night that Wright and Reyes can show what they're made of in the post season. These guys are the cornerstone of the team now and will be for the next few years. We can't do this without them.

Let's go get em. Let's Go Mets!

The pitching is killing us. The bats have gone cold. Look at it this way, if they keep playing like this but get by the Cards, they would get slaughtered by the well-rested, left-handed pitching heavy Tigers in the WS. Maybe last night was the wake-up call they needed. They need to win the next three games decisively. I wonder if Darling can still pitch a few innings.

Of course I will always stand behind the New York Mets, but right now I am absolutely panicked... there is no swagger left in my step as we reach game 4 and my heart is pounding outta my chest all day. This is a Mets team that SHOULD win and they should consider it a responsibility, not a privelige, to take out these Cardinals and advance to the World Series. I'll be holding my breath all day and all through the game, I don't know how I'm gonna get myself up for class tomorrow if they can't put something together tonight. I'm looking for Perez to be absolutely stellar... I want the box score to read something along the lines of {8.0IP 3H 1R 1ER 3BB 9K}. I think he is completely capable of throwing an amazing game and it has to be his time to step up, there is no later for him or for us. Anyways, fingers are crossed and hopes are high... please please please don't let us down Mets...
