Game 1 And The Cory Lidle Tragedy
Sometimes you get news that trumps all the drama related to baseball and the playoffs. The news that Cory Lidle was killed in plane crash in Manhattan is that type of news.
I was completely off line for most of the day and my wife called me to tell me a small plane had crashed into a building in Manhattan. She told me it was a very small plane and a residential building so I thought that this should definitely be an accident. Then she called me back 10 minutes later to tell me that the plane was registered to Cory Lidle. So i just turned on ESPN and heard that it’s confirmed that he was involved in the crash. It’s simply unbelieveable. My thoughts are with the Lidle family and the families of the other people involved in this tragedy.
They’re also reporting that it looks like the Mets might not be able to get game 1 in due to rain. MLB is not postponing any games due to the crash and I think that’s the right move. But it looks like they may not get the game in anyway.
Welcome to Amazin’ Moments, the un-official New York Mets Baseball Podcast. This is where fans of the New York Mets pro baseball team get their fix.

As of 7:13 EST Game 1 has been cancelled due to rain. So now it looks like it will be four games in a row starting tomorrow.
ESPN says it will still be Weaver/Glavine in Game 1 and Maine/Suppan in Game 2. So no change there.
They have not confirmed the time of the game on Friday. At least this gives Floyd and extra day to rest that aching achilles. Unfortunately it also gives Scott Rolen another day to rest as well.

Let’s Go, Let’s Go, Let’s Go Mets!
I’m watching the game from a huge sports bar in Dallas. They’ll probably throw me out because I’ll be going crazy one way or the other.

Great first game of the NLCS, once again the Mets showed what an all round team they can be.
Great defensive game, solid pitching from Glavine, and when someone needed to come through offensively there was Beltran.
disappointing for Floyd, but then a big defensive catch by Chavez just seemed to sum the situatiuon up.
Rob, you have been saying it most of the year, but this team has been under rated by a lot of people. They keep on showing their depth and their commitment to the task.
I will be in LA next week so looking forward to trying to find some tickets somewhere for a game!

Why Mota instead of Heilman in the 8th? I must have missed it.

I address that in the podcast that’s coming up shortly. In short, we’ll need to hear from Willy but I have my theories.
