It’s In The Cards
A rematch of the 2000 NLCS is on. I like our chances. I see Saint Louis as a one trick pony. Albert Pujols is obviously the guy to watch out for. He can wreck a game with his bat. After that I guess its Jim Edmunds.
On the mound their ace is Chris Carpenter who went 15-8. Then you’ve got the likes of Jeff Weaver, Jason Marquis and Jeff Suppan. All three of these guys are beatable. I’m going to assume for the moment that they’ll throw Weaver in game 1 on Wednesday night then follow with Suppan in game 2.
I wonder if Willie will start Maine again in Game 1 or go with Glavine. I’m leaning towards the thought that Glavine should start against Suppan, who’s a stronger pitcher than Weaver. Maybe Brett can cook us up some stats on the season series and the pitching matchups.
Welcome to Amazin’ Moments, the un-official New York Mets Baseball Podcast. This is where fans of the New York Mets pro baseball team get their fix.

Willie should start Glavine game 1, since he will have the rest, and it gives him game 1 and 5, and relief support in game 7. I’d rather have Tommy in that role than Maine.
Our rotation is Tommy, Maine, Steve, and Perez, and loop back. Why Perez and not Williams is beyond me - Perez has consistently bad games, Williams had one.
Wednesday will be great, and I’m getting married Saturday! Come on Mets, give me the best wedding present ever - a 2006 World Series ring!

with the Mets Perez has only had 1 brutal game… i listed some abbreviated stats in my last comment but… discluding his one start of 3.0IP and 7ER he’s had an ERA of 5.4 and the Mets have given him absolutely zero run support when he needs it. Again, Perez is a young confident STRIKEOUT pitcher who is not afraid to go after hitters… I don’t mind him at all in our current situation.

Yea i agree with Brett. That is a good arguement, however. Either way it just stinks that Hernandez isn’t in the line up. Hopefully we can put the #’s on the board because in all reality, if you score runs, you will probably win the game.
But i am really POed about one thing. Why is it that no matter what the Mets do in New York, Steinbrenner (spelling) and the Skankees always take away the Mets ink (newspaper spots) and their respect. I am tired of turning on sports center and hearing about the Yankees and all their problems. Like now, its about Torre and that hold fiasco. I live in ATL so i don’t no, but i’m guessing that the Saturday paper, on the front page of the sports it had some crap about the Yankees losing the series to Detroit instead of the sweeping by the Mets. I don’t know, so if someone knows, i would like to know what the real situation is. I’m just guessing. But the point is, the Mets get 00000000000000000000 respect and thats bull crap. Have a nice day.
GO METS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KICK SOME BUTT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone else POed from the lack of respect fro the Mets!!
Comment by Matt | October 9, 2006
Listen Matt,
I grew up in Queens and Brooklyn for the better half of my life, then moved out to Alaska. I used to read the NY Post every day. It was my new relgion. And even when the Mets won a game and the Yankees didn’t, the Post would more than likely run the backpage with who screwed up on the Yankee game.
I don’t care what the Post runs now on the backpage. Why you may ask? Because I know, deep down, somewhere in that paper, will be the Mets scores. The only thing left to report on the Yankees are how they’re disbanding. And i’m more than willing to accept that.
Mets in 4.
