Maine Starts Game One
MLB.com reports that John Maine will be the Game 1 starter for the Mets. There’s no time for debate on the topic in my opinion. The Mets need an arm out there on the mound and Maine has shown that he’s got some good stuff to win games at the major league level. We’ve got Maine. We’ve got the bullpen. And we’ve got the bats. Now lets go out and get a win.
LETS GO METS!
Welcome to Amazin’ Moments, the un-official New York Mets Baseball Podcast. This is where fans of the New York Mets pro baseball team get their fix.

Well this is what John Maine dreamed of as a kid. Time for him to grow up in a hurry.
Is it crazy to start asking if Heilman gets bumped up to the rotation now? As valuable as he’s been in the 8th inning role, I’m confident Mota or someone else could fill in. We certainly have the bullpen depth to pull it off. Maybe I’m crazy. But the circumstances are crazy too.

I think if Heilman was gonna get a start Randolph would have had him pitching simulated games by now. Willy didn’t want to mess with the bullpen during the season, and unless thing get really bad, as in another pitcher going down, I think we should just trust our rotation to hold off the attack and let our bats do the talking.

I thought about Heilman but he is the set up man now and we need him in thtat role. Also, I think that someone use to pitching one or two innings would need some prep time before being able to be expected to throw five or six innings.
It looks like Maine, Williams and Oliver Perez will be forced to fill the gap. In fact, I just read on MLB.com that El Duque is most likely out for the playoffs. Ugh!

I just forked over $9.95 for the postseason package on MLB.com. Video is available only after the games are over so I’ll be listening in from work. Looks like people overseas can see the games streamed live.
