  1. (Haven’t had a chance to listen yet.) The Mets are taking a couple of healthy beatings this past week. I wonder if it’s good for them to get all of this out of their system now: bad pitching outings, weak bats. It looks like we pretty much have homefield in the NL almost wrapped up as well, so it’s a good time just to get these beatings out of the way and get everyone healthy. I’m not overly worried. Only just a little – especially with the pitching.

  2. Am I being really stupid or can the Mets win the division tonight: a win against the marlins combined with Philly losing both games of the doubleheader vs Atlanta?

  3. Last nite’s come from behind was good. I have no problem with the losses lately. When the Mets are behind and Willie pulls Beltran for Lastings, you know these games don’t matter.

Enjoy the lead, and our magic number of 3.

Hey Rob, I notice when you podcast, the Mets win! How about a podcast after EVERY game during the playoffs? You gotta believe!!!!!!!!

  4. We could have clinched tonight if the Braves swept their double header, but they lost to the Phils in the first game. There’s still hope for tomorrow though!

As far as the wins vs. podcast go, I’ll do all I can to add to the mojo for the playoffs. I’m sure I’ll want to talk about every game.

  5. The Braves are not helping us out tonight, but the number is down to 2 anyway. It’s nice to see that the team is not taking anything for granted in getting these come from behind wins. The bullpen came through again too.

After the game Paul LoDuca said he is a little torn about the possibility of the Mets celebrating the division in front of Xavier Nady.

  6. Straight from SI.com

    • The Mets haven’t announced it yet, but Orlando Hernandez will be their third starter in the playoffs, after Martinez and Glavine.

About time they made the right decision.. Playoff vetern who consistently has shown up big in big games in the past… I love this move

  7. We’re down to one folks. I was traveling late last night and check the scores this morning to see that the Braves had beat the Phillies.

It would be so appropriate if Pedro could return tonight and bring it home for the Mets.

  8. Not sure about your thought of Perez being the first long reliever out of the bullpen in the playoffs. The guy gets a little too excited in a meaningless game. He’d probably spontaneously combust on the mound in the playoffs. Despite his shortcomings, I think I’d go with Trachsel as first out of the bullpen.

  9. *deep breath*

    *exhale*

Here it is. The culmination of all those posters we see on the sides of buses and trainstation walls…Next year is now. Well, now it is. This is the first step we’ll be taking to solidify our place in October. As much as this moment means to us, them, every Mets fan out there, it is the most insignificant this post-season.

With the clinching of the NL East, it gets no easier from this point on, with the exception of playing whoever comes out of the NL West, but that’s it. Everything else is going to be an uphill battle. This is the time where i’ll be holding my breath, praying not to see the ghost of Lima anywhere near the mound. I could go on with our other disasters that have kept us from where we are now, but everyone knows who i’m not talking about.

I guess i’m just realizing we finally have our work cut out for us and this just seemed like a good place to go for therapy.
    Now….is now.
    Let’s…Go…Mets

  10. I’m really looking forward to the game tonight. I’ll try to be on the chat if it looks like we’re going to clinch it.

  11. Tonight’s the night. I’m hoping the Phils don’t lose before the Mets play. That would be really anti-climactic.

  12. I don’t know. I’ll take it any way that I can get it!

Poor Pedro. He was really busted up over the bad outing last night. Not the most ‘manly’ reaction but it’s good to see a player that actually cares about his performance in the field.

I’m confident that he’ll come back and pitch better.

  13. A very VERY empty feeling after the second loss to the Pirates tonight.

It felt like touble when Heilman walked Randa.

I guess that the positive is that Xavier Nady and the Pirates take the series which should make them happy, and hopefully the Mets can take the win tomorrow to clinch the Division.

    Hopefully some consolation for Xavier.

It seems like we just need to take the Division so the team can relax a little and prepare for a solid October.

Lets Go Mets, tomorrows the day.
