I think they’ve always known they need another starter. In short playoff series, we definitely don’t have the guns. We have solid steady guys that are stepping up. Maine looked good today. I like his no BS approach of just throwing strikes…tired of Orlando’s nibbling.

I don’t know about Rogers. He’s one of these guys who does well for a while and gives you nothing in big spots.

There’s a story in the NY Post today that implored Omar Minaya to trade Lastings Milledge is Barry Zito is available. The writer says that rent a pitcher deals are always good when the team wins a title. True, but they’re bad if a team doesn’t and then loses the arm (and the prospect they gave up) at the end of the season.

The names Armas and Wells don’t float my boat, unless we have to give up no one to get them.

The two hottest names on the New York Mets’ starting pitching radar yesterday appeared to be the Washington Nationals’ Tony Armas Jr. and Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Kip Wells, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. The club is said to be leaning toward Armas.

I am nmot quite sure on this. Armas is injury prone and Kip Wells just plain old sucks well except his one great year… but one year is not enough to make him a good pitcher

I heard a rumour of trading Heilman for Gil Meche… I say we send over a prospect too and see if we can’t get Rafeal Soriano… but if we can’t get someone to fill Heilman’s bullpen spot then no.. we can’t do it

If Minaya wants to make a move after a reliever he better do it quick… Williamson and MacDougal are off the block.. but the Padres are looign to deal Lindbrink for a 3B.. now with Wright being a staple at the hot corner for years to come I say we move a 3B prospect and something else to get him.. he’s a great reliever

With the luxury of a 11-13 game lead in the NL East, I see no reason to trade Lasings Milledge or Mike Pelfrey. I envision a deal that was similar to the Kenny Rogers deal in 1999. I beleive the trade was Terernce Long and an additional prospect for Rogers.

I’m not advocating a trade for Rogers himself but a similar deal for a quality arm. (without walking someone with the bases loaded).

Who the Mets should go after… Hernandez and no not El Duque I mean Livan.. yeah he’s old but he probably will come cheap and he’s got a rubber arm.. he’s an innings eater that can toss a gem every so often… which is perfect for this team.. we have the bats to win us games… all we need is a competent, vetern starting pitcher who can eat up innings until Sanchez and Wagner can come in and shut the door… plus Livan has won the World Series and we need the playoff experience to make a deep run

But do not.. I repeat do not trade Pelfrey or Milledge for anyone that is on the market (my story would change if Pujols was on the market

and What’s the deal with Andreson Hernandez… Did he fall off the face of the earth.. he was so touted before the season as the Mets starting 2b and once he got hurt he’s never been heard from… anyone know what’s up with him, where is is and is he comming back to the big leagues this season?
