Hot Hot Hot
That’s what this Mets team is. I would have never thought that the Amazins would go 9-1 on this very pivotal road trip. Hell, 7-3 would have been excellent. Maybe our team will finally start to get the respect they deserve. You can bet that the Phils and Diamondbacks have some respect for the Mets now. Even Met killer Pat Burrell couldn’t spoil the broom party today!
I’m hearing lots of talk from people who think that this Mets team is still too weak in starting pitching to go all the way. I don’t know about that. I like the 1-2-3 combo of Martinez, Glavine and Soler. We still have a few weeks to evaluate Hernandez and Soler before deciding on a deal anyway. The Mets have the major upper hand in any trade talks since they are so far out in front of the division and not desperate in any way at this juncture in the season.
The Lastings Milledge talk since last night has been interesting. He got caught dogging it on the basepaths then all of a sudden Eli Marrero gets the start in place of Lastings in left field. Willie said he wanted to get Marrero some at bats. But Randolph had to be sending a message to his young player about hustling at the major league level. The Mets won the game anyway but this amplifies the point that many people are making about Milledge needing some more seasoning at the AAA level. After all, we don’t want another Timo Perez like base running incident to occur in a really big game.
The Mets set a major league record today by winning their 8th straight game on the road while scoring in the first inning. The 1939 Yankees did it seven consecutive games. Always nice to wipe a Yankee record off the map.
So now it’s back to Shea for a homestand against Baltimore and Cincinnati. I think the crowds will be swelling in Flusing this weekend. As well they should be. This team has earned a few sell outs even if they are against a non-rival team like the Orioles.
Lets Go Mets!
Welcome to Amazin’ Moments, the un-official New York Mets Baseball Podcast. This is where fans of the New York Mets pro baseball team get their fix.

What a great road trip. We have been solid, offensively and defensively.
I’m thrilled that we swept to teams and became a brick in their back.
Regardless why Willie benched Milledge, he should’ve scored. The kids got legs, use them!
David Wright has been an amazing MVP candidate as of late. Good for him. Beltran! HAS FINALLY BEEN EARNING HIS PAYCHECKS! Instead of constant jeering at home…he might…*gulp* be cheered!!
LET’S GO METS!

It’s great to see the Mets scoring so many runs in the first three innings! Scoring so early in the game definitely takes the pressure off the starting pitchers. It’s fun to go online and pick up the game in the 3rd or 4th inning and the Mets already have 4 or 5 runs on the board.
Great job with the podcast!

Bottom of the 7th. Heilman just handed this game to the Orioles. I’m very upset with him right now. He hasn’t been very effective this season. Hit or miss. Russian roulette with the ball.
I don’t know about him anymore.

It’s what I’ve come to call Aaron Heilman’s “7th Inning Retch.” The guy has issues. He has only been sporadically effective over the last few weeks.
I think Willie has some decisions to make about Heilman and his role with the Mets. Either give the guy a chance to start and see what he does or trade him. Soler gave us another strong start and he is shaping up as our #3 guy. Maybe Heath Bell can fill the role vacated by Heilman.
I also wonder why they stick so closely to a pitch count with a guy like Soler. He threw 101 pitches but he had retired the last 12 batters. At least let him start the 7th and see what he’s got.
